Fall 2018 ArizMATYC Conference @ GateWay CC

Join mathematics faculty from throughout the Southwest for the Fall 2018 ArizMATYC Conference. The conference will be held at the Washington Campus of GateWay Community College in Phoenix, Arizona on Friday, October 5.

Tentative Schedule

 

This conference will include a keynote speaker, breakout sessions, a student panel, and vendor tables in addition to a delicious breakfast, lunch, and ice cream social.

 

Keynote Speaker

Dr. Maria L. Wise has 26 years of experience, serving K-12 and community college education in the state of Arizona, both as a teacher and leader. Currently, Dr. Wise is serving as the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs at GateWay Community college overseeing functions under the leadership of four deans. Prior to taking on the oversight of Student Affairs, she was the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Dr. Wise was Dean of Arts and Sciences at Chandler-Gilbert Community College for four years where she provided leadership and advocacy for six academic divisions, dual enrollment, various academic and student success initiatives, and developmental education. Prior to her role as Dean of Arts and Sciences, she taught mathematics as a residential faculty for three years. In this role she taught various levels of mathematics with a focus on developmental education.

Dr. Wise earned an EdD in Educational Leadership from the University of Phoenix, an MA in Education, with an emphasis in Contemporary Mathematics, from California State University, Northridge; and a BS in Education, with an emphasis in Mathematics, at Northern Arizona University.

Presenters

Presentations for the Fall ArizMATYC Conference can focus on
topics such as instruction, history of mathematics, applied math, technology, strategies for success, opportunities for growth, and/or student success.

Proposals must be submitted by Friday, September 7, 2018.

Presider

The conference organizers welcome your application to preside at the Fall ArizMATYC Conference. Presiders introduce the speaker, assist the speaker and see that sessions end promptly.

Applications to preside must be submitted by Friday, September 14, 2018.

Registration

Registration for the Fall ArizMATYC Conference will soon be open. Registration for the conference is $20.  Student registration is $5.

Vendors

Vendors may purchase tables ($100 or $175), an ad ($50) or a presentation ($100). Sponsorship for meals is also available for the conference. Vendors should follow the link below to register and pay for conference services.

Location

The conference will be held at the Washington Campus of GateWay Community College at 108 N. 40th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85034. Parking is recommended in student lots #7, 8 and 9. While labeled as student lots, anyone can park in them.
