*Join us on a hike Friday morning at ArizMATYC, and take the chance to check out a young saguaro nursery section in the gorgeous Saguaro National Park! Meet at the Mica View Picnic Area at 6:30am. Weather permitting we’ll plan to do a 2 mile loop (~1-1.5 hour) on the Mica View and Cactus Forest trails. Along the way we’ll get to see both young and mature saguaro cacti and their sheltering Palo Verde trees, and great views of the Santa Catalina and Rincon Mountains. This loop is relatively easy, beginner friendly, and a great chance to see what makes the Tucson desert so unique. Here is a quick link with a summary of the hike.

Please plan to bring water and sun protection with you; even on easier trails the sun can get to us quick! In addition, please dress for hiking; at the very least sturdy close-toed shoes are highly recommended. There is a small fee to enter the park ($5/person or $15/vehicle).

Registration

Registration for the conference is open! Registration is $30 for faculty attending in person and $15 for faculty attending virtually. Students who wish to attend in person will be charged $5.
